Make Drain Cleaning a DIY Adventure!

For any home owner (and some renters), the pain and hassle of a clogged drain is all too familiar. Not to mention, the expense of calling out a plumber to handle the situation. But now, you can easily tackle those problems yourself with the 50 Ft. Commercial Power-Feed Drain Cleaner with GFCI (Item #: 68284) from Harbor Freight Tools! With this motorized drain cleaner, you can clear out, clean out, and unclog bathroom sinks, toilets, and pipes between 2 and 4 inches to your heart’s content without having to pay someone else to do it. Thus, saving yourself plenty of money as well as embarrassment from roommates and significant others who may judge you for requiring assistance with the plumbing in your own house.

With this handy drain cleaner ready to go, you’ll almost beg for clogged drains, just so you can show it off. The “power-feed” means you won’t have to get messy by pulling out the drain snake yourself, and extra-large wheels allow for easy mobility to wherever you need the unit to be. As for the GFCI, that stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. This safety feature automatically shuts the drain cleaner off if necessary, saving you and others from possibly getting shocked. One thing that is guaranteed to shock you however is the low price on this heavy duty drain cleaner. For just $399.99, you won’t have to worry about calling in a plumber for clogged drains again.

“I’ve used commercial machines before that I have rented & the only thing I can find different is the fact that this one is much lighter & more user friendly! It paid for itself on the first use! I really shopped around & even looked at the lesser model, but for the difference in price & features, this is the better deal! I would recommend this one VERY highly! The people at Harbor Freight in Independence, Mo were very helpful in explaining the feature differences that helped me decide. No pressure just good facts!” – by Doc the Plumber from Independence, MO

“I bought this in the last week since plumbers have priced themselves out of sight! I thought it would be larger than the unit the last plumber used and it was! I have to admit I was skeptical but I was amazed at the ease of use and the strength of this unit. I had a clog in a 3 inch pipe and I had to go to the roof vent to hit it. After 30 plus feet the front bathroom sink and back bathroom shower were flowing better than three years ago when the plumber did this! I didn’t just go until I hit the first clog and call it done but went further and found whatever was knocked loose had just moved down stream and clogged again. This unit has the power and length I needed to do a great job and clean up afterwards was a breeze.” – by Randy M. from De Moines, IA

For cleaning pipes at home or on the job, this is the ideal DIY tool! If you need further proof, or just a visual demonstration, check out the video by YouTube user megalodon1 here:

handy andy tool set

So, up until now you haven’t had much call to for bunch of tools (and you’re sticking to that story). But then things start happening. The bathroom faucet is dripping. The Mrs. decides it’s time to install new light fixtures. It’s the night before a birthday and you need to put a bike together. The cute divorcée next door needs a pair of big, strong hands. It’s time to be self-reliant. With just a handful of tools– and some elemental know-how that you can pick up from your dad or YouTube– believe it or not, you can personally handle most of the basic household projects that speed bump into your personal time. So, as you embark on this new journey of self-reliance, we’re here to share with you you the 12 simple-yet-powerful tools you need to have in your arsenal. No doubt, others will chime in with suggestions of their own because, well, that’s what tool guys do. The great thing about these tools is, they’re all affordable, so you can be all locked and loaded after one quick trip to Harbor freight. Here they are:

claw hammer

Claw Hammer

Claw Hammer

The hammer could be your favorite go-to tool. From driving in nails (or yanking them out), to starting screws and aligning holes, to full-scale demolition detail, the 16-ounce claw hammer packs just the right punch you need for the job. In fact, you’ll probably find yourself pulling it out for projects you don’t even need it for. You know, just in case. Instead of the “old school” wooden handle, we recommend you go with a fiberglass one: they absorb impact a heckuva lot better and they don’t crack or splinter. Also, when you go buy one, try a few different hammers out and feel the heft and balance in your hand. Like a bat or a bowling ball, if it feels good, it makes all the difference. Just watch out for passing patrons when you start swinging it in the store.

Flathead & Phillips Screwdriver Set

Screwdriver Set

Contrary to popular belief, the slotted flathead screwdriver is not dead, not yet. Therefore, it’s inevitable that you’ll need both flathead and Phillips screwdrivers in your journeys. Start out with a basic set of both. Besides slotted screws, the flathead screwdriver is also excellent for lifting the lids off paint cans, scraping off old paint and epoxy, nudging things and emancipating personal items locked in briefcases with lost keys. The Phillips screwdriver has gained more popularity, though, because it’s designed to give a user more torque than is possible with a flathead screwdriver, so when possible, go with Phillips screws.

stripped screwAlso, the last thing you want to have in the middle of a project, is a screwdriver or a screw that starts stripping before you can loosen or tighten, so make sure the following things are true:

  • Make sure the pilot hole is approximately the same size as the inside diameter of the screw threads.
  • Make sure the screwdriver head fits the screw nicely.
  • Put some weight into it when you’re turning the screw, so that it holds its place and isn’t tempted to slip its grip.
  • Make sure the screwdriver is in line with the screw as you turn. Coming at it from an angle is a sure method of stripping.

This Pittsburgh Pro screwdriver set is an excellent starting point for your tool arsenal. As jobs come your way, you may need to acquire either a larger or smaller one, but these will tackle most household projects.

tape measure blog

Tape Measure

Tape Measure

Whether you’re building a workbench, seeing if a big screen TV will fit on a wall, verifying the diameter of a pipe, or measuring a room, a trusty 25′ retractable tape measure is a must. In fact, since they’re so inexpensive, we’d go as far as to say buy four: one for the toolbox, one for upstairs, one for downstairs, and one for the car. I mean, who likes fetching a tape measure on the other side of the house? It also goes without saying, throw a pencil in the box as well. If you’re grabbing the tape measure, you’ll probably be grabbing one of those, too.

Adjustable Wrench Set

Adjustable Wrench

Of all the tools in your arsenal, besides your hammer, this baby will probably see the most action. Because one adjustable wrench can handle different sized nuts and bolts, it’s like having 50 wrenches in one. So you could literally be walking around the place, tightening your kid’s trike wheels, the BBQ’s frame, the microwave cart and the Gatling gun tripod without ever going back to the toolbox. When using an adjustable wrench, adjust the jaws to fit precisely over the nut, rocking the wrench slightly as you tighten, to help secure a firm fit. Also, for added strength, make sure the nut is positioned as deep as it will go into the throat of the adjustable wrench. As with the aforementioned screwdriver set, the crescent wrench set shown could take on most of whatever your honey-do list can throw at it. There may an occasion to get a bigger one along the way, but those kind of jobs are rare and far between.

Socket Set

 Socket Set

If you’re dealing with a lot of nut-n-bolt action– usually on an engine or other machinery– then it’s time to put aside the crescent wrench and pull out the “big guns”– the socket set. Socket sets can exponentially speed up a project like an ordinary crescent wrench never could. They’re so convenient and effective, in fact, you’ll actually get giddy over the chance to pull it out. This is because of the ratchet that comes with it, a mechanism that eliminates the need to remove and refit the socket on every stroke. Also, because the tool will turn the bolt when swinging in one direction, but won’t pull it back when returning.  A good basic household socket set with about a dozen or so sockets, a ratchet and an extension will prove almost always sufficient for household jobs, such as driving in lag bolts, tightening bolts or other occasional repairs, builds or tasks. Like all guys, you will love your ratchet, and will probably look for excuses to buy several. Which brings us to the Husband’s Litmus Test: If she says, “But, you already have a ratchet,” then you know, she doesn’t understand you.

Locking Pliers

Locking Pliers

Locking pliers are designed to provide maximum locking force and come in handy when you need an extra hand to work with. Then, when the job is done, a quick release disengages the tool for the next step. Extremely versatile, you can employ this multitasking tool as pliers, a pipe wrench, an adjustable wrench, wire cutters, a ratchet, or a clamp. The three shown here can take care of most stuff around the house and garage.

Needle Nose Pliers

Needle Nose Pliers

An valuable tool for electrical work, this little guy can be a lifesaver for projects that require you to cut, bend, re-position, grip or strip wire. They’re also used for crafts, jewelry making, computer repairs, bomb defusing and other functions . Because of their long and skinny shape, they’re particularly useful for getting into tight spots. You can also use them to pinch your bratty nephew.

cordless drill blog

Cordless Drill

Cordless Drill

Power tools are awesome, but most are unnecessary for the garden-variety shtuff around the house. That said, a cordless drill is a must-have component in your toolbox arsenal. It can be used for drilling holes into sheet rock and driving screws into a 2×4. So, if you’re “earthquake-proofing” furniture, installing towel bars or sawing holes in the back of your entertainment center, this is the go-to tool . When choosing a cordless drill, you want one with lots of power, which is measured by the amount of voltage in its battery. An 18v is a good size for home use, and make sure it’s got variable speeds for different jobs, and is reversible. The reversible feature will come in handy if you need to take some screws out when you realize the outhouse door needs to swing out, not in.

toolbox saw blog

Hand Saw

Hand Saw

Now, let’s turn to Old School. A great misconception is the idea that you need an electric saw to make cuts. All you really need is a simple hand saw in your toolkit. You don’t have to run an extension cord, you don’t have to recharge a battery, and you can catch yourself alot faster if the cut’s going awry. The image of a wooden-grip hand saw has long been the iconic symbol of the DIY craftsman. A good general-purpose hand saw is the go-to tool for trimming branches or cutting lumber for a DIY project. It’s also the one tool you want to make sure you’ve got a good pair of work gloves to wear while using.

Magnetic Torpedo level

Whether you’re hanging pictures, putting up a curtain rod,  or affixing shelves to a wall, a straight line is absolutely crucial. You don’t want to put a bunch of nails in the wall, only to step back and see your family portraits are all askew. To get the job done right the first time, you need a level. There are some hoity-toity laser levels out there, but you can’t beat the sweet satisfaction of getting that bubble in the middle. Of course, if you enjoy getting the stinkeye from certain cohabitants,  go ahead and just keep doing it by eye. ‘Cause you’re so good at it. Seriously, get this tool, you’ll be happy you did. On the level.

Utility Knife

Utility Knife

This tool might not put out the sexy like other tools, but we bet it’ll never gather dust at the bottom of your toolbox. You’ll find the utility knife to be a stupendous sidekick with every project: Stripping wire, cutting rope, rubber hose or plastic strapping, snipping the sealed tips off epoxy tubes, scraping paint… you get the point. When nothing else in the arsenal can help, the utility knife steps up to the plate.

toolbox blog

Well, duh. As time goes on, you’ll probably graduate to a tool cart, then a tool cabinet, and maybe even a wall of tool chests. In the meantime, the humble shlep-around toolbox is the perfect receptacle for carrying your basic tools to any household project. Keep it simple and solid, and it’ll never leave you, even when you need more storage.

No doubt, some of you think we overlooked some items you think are crucial to the ensemble. Duct tape. WD-40. The InSinkErator tool. Everyone’s needs could slightly deviate based on their home situations, but we’re standing by this list. So? Go thou, get thee tools and be useless no more.

Clean Up Without Getting Cleaned Out!

Whether a job is big or small, you know there’s going to be some cleanup. And when the cleanup job gets too big, it’s like tacking on a whole other project after you’ve just finished one. That’s why you need a Dust Collection unit that can take care of the cleaning for you. Luckily, Harbor Freight has the 70 Gallon Industrial 5 Micron Dust Collector (Item #: 97869) that handles the cleaning for you, saving you time as well as hassle. And for just $209.99, this dust collector unit will save you money too compared to units retailing for twice that or more!

This tool is the perfect solution to your cleanup troubles. From keeping your workspace clean and hazard free to saving your lungs from breathing in harmful debris and dust, a reliable dust collector is a must for any busy woodworker, do-it-yourselfer or professional contractor working through projects on a daily basis. Fine sawdust, dirt and any particles up to 5 microns are no match for this 2 horsepower unit and four locking swivel casters make it easy to maneuver the dust collector to wherever it’s needed. But once you have the 5 Micron Dust Collector set up in your shop or garage, you can rest assured it will be there for a long time to come.

“It’s an amazing bargain. Generally these types of units go for more than twice the price, and have half the power. The fact that we got it for an additional amount off was just gravy. And it has a way better filter bag than, say, the stock bag on the rockier machine. We’ve found it to be powerful, and not aggressively loud. If you are used to other full size dust collectors, it might be a bit louder than them… But if you are used to using a shop vac, it’s way quieter.” – by Richard the woodworker from Seattle, WA

“I purchased this dust collector after reading many reviews on woodworking forums. After purchasing a number of Harbor Freight products over the years, I have to say this is by far the most rewarding purchase I have made. The fit and finish were much better than expected and the machine runs great. It handles all my dust collection needs in a medium sized shop. Down the road I might add a better filter to the unit and a separator, but for now it meets my needs. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble.” – by MarEngineer from Florida

“This machine is an absolute dream. This collector performs remarkably well. So far I’ve used it with a random orbital sander with a hose and I do not see dust anywhere after a day or two of settling. Handled everything out of the jointer without a problem. I have to get some fittings to figure out the connections to the router table and saw, but I’m confident it will handle them without a problem. My wife commented on how quiet it is.” – by Woodenships from Naugatuck, CT

From Washington to Connecticut, woodworkers everywhere LOVE this Dust Collection unit! It’s quiet, portable, and sure to get the job done as needed. And with the included clear bottom bag, there’s no mystery as to what’s been collected. And, of course, with the Harbor Freight low price, there are no surprises at the check out. So head out to your local Harbor Freight store today and pick up an industrial quality dust collector for a clean work space anywhere!

Let This Shop Crane Do the Heavy Lifting…

Whether you need a general shop crane or an engine hoist for your garage, the 1 Ton Capacity Foldable Shop Crane (Item #: 69512) gives you the power and convenience you need in a lifting tool. Easily adjustable, smoothly maneuverable, and a breeze to use, this shop crane from Harbor Freight Tools is a must-have for anyone lifting heavy equipment up to 2,000 lbs. Even if you pride yourself on your own personal strength and powerlifting abilities, no one will think less of you for having a reliable lifting tool for some occasional assistance. In fact, people will be impressed at your foresight and humility. Not to mention, your impressive frugality for spending just $179.99 on an item that retails for double that elsewhere!

When it’s in use, this shop crane is the center of attention in any shop or garage, handling the heavy lifting with ease. Smooth-rolling double bearing casters let you get the tool into the best location for the job, no matter if it’s in the shop, the driveway, or the backyard. And when the job is done, the crane folds away for even easier storage so it’s out of the way until you need it again. But, we won’t judge you for wanting to leave this awesome shop crane out in the open, just so the neighbors can see it.

“I picked this up with an amazing price to pull the engine out of my MGB. I took it home in two boxes and put it together in less than an hour. I added a bit of extra jack oil and bled it as directed in the instructions, not sure if that was needed or not. In any case, the ram worked very well and held the engine up overnight when I needed to interrupt the project. Due to the position of the engine in the car, I needed to set the crane up at the longer, 1/4 ton position. No problems lifting the near 500lb engine and transmission combo out of the car. The legs squeezed between the front wheels and under the front spoiler, even with the rear end jacked up. I’m also very happy with how tightly this crane folds up and out of the way. It’s not a tool I’ll use every day, so it’s nice that it is easy to store without taking up too much space. This is a great product that does what it’s supposed to do at a great price!” – by Brian from Colorado

Amazing price + No problems = Very happy. Well put, Brian.

“I bought this because I had 5 very large bushes to remove from my property that were in a tight spot. I used this and Item#44847 to pop them right out of the ground after seeing a video of it online. Worked like a charm and in about 2 hours I had them all out… I was covered head to toe in dirt but it was well worth it!” – by Troyallen from Chicago, IL

That’s right. This crane isn’t just for lifting engines. There is a wide array of lifting, hoisting, and pulling jobs this crane can handle safely and efficiently. With an included ram, chain, and hook, you’ll have everything you need to get started on your own lifting jobs right away. And with this awesome item from Harbor Freight, you’ll be finished just as fast!

A Complete Paint Sprayer Kit – Just Add Paint!

Got a big painting job to tackle? If so, then the tool has to match the task and when you’re faced with a big weekend project, you need a paint sprayer that is prepared to get the job done. If you want to be prepared for just about anything, then it’s imperative that you pick up the 5/8 Horsepower Airless Paint Sprayer Kit (Item #: 60600) from Harbor Freight Tools! This versatile kit includes everything required to get started on big painting projects like decks, ceilings, door frames, walls, and more! All you need to do is just add the paint.

The best part about this Paint Sprayer Kit is that it’s airless. That means no air compressor is necessary to operate the tool! The piston pumps do the pumping all on their own at 1000 to 3000 PSI when pumping paint directly from a 1 or 5 gallon bucket of paint. That means you’ve got one less thing to worry about when you’re focused on finishing the job. And thanks to this lightweight model, you’ll still be able to easily take the sprayer to wherever you need it for optimal performance and ultimate convenience.

“I paint many rental properties and I bought this when my paint sprayer (that I paid more than twice for) died after 9 months of use. I am much happier with the way this one works and it is easier to clean up after the job is done. I have already done 3 houses with it in less than a month and am very satisfied! It is a little tricky getting the last of the paint out of a 5 gallon bucket but I just added a little pick up hose extension and the problem is fixed!” – by jimmyzip from Youngstown, OH

“I purchased this unit then it sat for a long time until I had a chance to use it. I finally got it out the other day and used it to paint a large shed made of rough cut lumber. I can’t say enough good things about how well this unit worked! In less than two hours I had the entire inside and outside painted and had used the entire 5 gallon bucket of paint. I did take my time cleaning the unit, including adding oil to the pump, so that it would be ready for the next use. Overall a great experience!” – by Mikekan from Aberdeen, NC

Whether you’re a professional or an avid do-it-yourselfer, this awesome 5/8 Horsepower Airless Paint Sprayer Kit is the perfect tool for taking care of big jobs in a short time. And at just $199.99, you’ll still have money left over to stock up on paint too. Of course, as Mikekan from Aberdeen, NC, stated, you’ll want to be sure to clean out the unit after using it to keep it in ideal working condition and ready for the next big task. But as long as you take care of this high quality paint sprayer kit, it’ll take care of your big painting projects for years to come!

The unit contains a high-output, sealed battery that can easily jump start any weak or dead 12 volt battery and help you get out of a tough situation. The best part about this 3-in-1 jump starter is that no other vehicle is necessary to get out of a jam. If you’re on the side of the road at night or an unfamiliar road, you won’t always have the opportunity to flag someone down for help. This way, you won’t have to worry because the jump starter and power supply always has you covered. With a cool price tag of just $39.99 and up to 20 hours of 12 volt power on a single charge, this unit is a no-brainer for any motorist.

“I bought one, thought I would never use it. But the jump starter has come in handy many times. More than worth what Harbor Freight sells them for. Small enough to keep in your vehicle. Easy to use.” – by Tom B from Eock Spring

“Got this for Xmas and used it for the first time last week after my battery didn’t have enough charge to start with the bitter below zero temps. Hooked it up, turned it on, waited a few seconds then started it…. worked first time and it still holds a full charge after one use!” – by jeepcountry from Traverse City, MI

“Bought it on sale New Year’s Day. Used it today for the first time on a work truck (in minus 7 degrees weather). It would turn but would not start and ended up eating the battery power. Used this charger and it worked great.  Although it took 1/2 hour for the truck to eventually “fire”, it kept the battery charged right up. VERY impressed with it.” – by Jim from Forest City, PA

This helpful power supply and jump starter features industrial booster cables with heavy duty alligator clips that attach to any car’s battery for easy use as well as a built-in 3.6 watt work light for illumination around your car or in your work area. Whether you pick one up for yourself or as a gift for this holiday season, the 3-in-1 Jump Starter and Power Pack is a fantastic item for your car that will easily take care of weak or dead batteries.

Warm Work Gloves for Cold Weather

That’s why the Cold Weather Work Gloves (Items #: 96606 and 96612) are essential items for any tool kit, no matter the season. So, exactly how warm are these gloves? Well, the 40 gram fleece Thinsulate™ lining is ten times warmer than standard fleece! Even so, you still get maximum gripping power and superior dexterity with these work gloves thanks to durable synthetic leather palms. That means you won’t lose your grip or the feeling in your fingers with these puppies on your mitts! And at just $11.99 for the pair, you won’t lose your cool when you pick them up from your local Harbor Freight either.

“I bought these gloves to help battle the cold weather as I finish up a big outdoor project (deck). These are awesome gloves. They keep my hands toasty warm and surprisingly dry. Even when they are a little too warm (as the day gets warmer), my hands are not sweating. I’ve used these in rainy weather too and they stayed dry inside. They are true to fit (XL), which is great since I have trouble finding gloves that fit well.” – by MarkP from Newark, Delaware

“I sell Christmas trees every year and normally I wear regular split leather work gloves. The problem with these is that after it rains or snows and the trees are soaked those gloves get wet quickly. I picked these Cold Weather Work Gloves up last year and they worked great for the wet trees. They’re also very warm; warmer than I thought they would have been as they seem lighter than most winter gloves you’d wear. I quickly found out these were also better than my regular winter gloves for snow shoveling, cleaning the cars off, etc. I even started using them to drive to work every morning.”  – by carrguy1 from Southeastern Pennsylvania

“I was looking for gloves that would keep my hands dry and warm at the same time. I have tried many different types of gloves in my time and these are the ones that by far met my expectations. I can work outside, in the snow, and keep my hands warm, and dry!” – by Techie from Reading, Pennsylvania

Obviously these Cold Weather Work Gloves are ideal for the winter months, but anyone working in refrigeration, cold buildings, or freezers should pick up a pair of these gloves available in Large or X-Large sizes. Just like MarkP said, they keep your hands warm and provide a great fit with elastic cuffs that keep dirt and debris out of the gloves. When it comes to working, your hands are your most important tools so keep them safe and comfortable with these warm, water-resistant cold weather work gloves from Harbor Freight!

A Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Surviving an onslaught of zombies doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! In fact, you can keep all your limbs neatly intact with just a few select items from Harbor Freight Tools. From weapons to equipment, Harbor Freight is the one stop shop for all your survival needs, but you can’t carry everything when you’re on the run from the undead! So, this handy guide will run down the most essential tools you need to get to the military outpost/survivor camp/shopping mall stronghold alive.

First things first, you need a weapon.  Getting anywhere will be dangerous at best and suicide at worst. If you want any chance at all, you’ll need to be equipped with a weapon that is lightweight, powerful and doesn’t require reloading. For this situation, the 20 oz. Solid Steel “Antishock” Pro Rip Hammer (Item #: 60517) will serve you best. The oil-resistant comfort grip minimizes muscle fatigue so you can handle a whole group of zombies with ease. And the solid steel rip claw is designed to withstand rigorous use, even if it’s smashing zombies in the noggin. Be careful here because most people might be tempted to go with the 8 oz. Stubby Claw Hammer (Item #: 95929) because of its portability. However, while the Pro Rip Hammer might be a bit heavier, it has the leverage you need to break through the skulls of the undead or to pry open boarded up windows in a hurry. In fact, it couldn’t hurt to pick up two hammers, either as an extra for a partner or one for each hand so you can deal out double the carnage.

Another great choice is the 18″ Machete with Serrated Blade (tem #: 62113). The razor sharp machete also features a nonslip comfort grip and can be easily accessible when stored in the included nylon sheath. This weapon is ideal for hacking through foliage as well as zombie necks. And speaking of hand to hand combat, you can’t go wrong with the 8″ Survival/Hunting Knife (Item #: 90714).  The shorter blade offers more control over the machete which can come in handy in case you need to remove clothing to tourniquet a wound while the built-in compass will keep you and your group on track. You’ll need to keep these blades sharp too so be sure to pick up a Combination Sharpening Stone (Item #: 7345) as well. Dull blades can easily become stuck in a skull or other decomposing body part, leaving you helpless and without a weapon.

Survival is all in the details. In a world where rules and laws no longer have any meaning, you need to be on constant alert for threats both alive and undead. The Ultra Ear Sound Amplifier (Item #:  66577) fits comfortably behind either ear and provides ultra sensitive hearing to prevent anyone (or anything) from sneaking up on your camp. This handy device features tone and volume adjustment so you can keep an ear out in almost any environment. Granted, the amplifier is battery operated, which brings up another good point…

Batteries. You can’t have too many. You never know what type of tool or equipment might require batteries and in a zombie apocalypse, batteries will basically be like currency. Luckily, Harbor Freight carries a wide variety. The 24 Piece AA Alkaline Batteries (Item #: 61271) are good general purpose batteries to have on hand but you’ll want to pick up at least a few packs of the 4 Piece AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries (Item #: 61269) as well. They’re environmentally friendly (which is still important even in a zombified world) and these batteries can be recharged up to 800 times. Along with the 5 Watt Foldable Solar Panel Charger (Item #: 60449), all you need is direct sunlight to get those batteries back to full capacity. Harbor Freight offers the following size batteries to fit a variety of needs in both alkaline and rechargeable NiMH:

You also need to think about protection from the elements and debris as well as from the vicious undead so be sure to pick up some Cold Weather Work Gloves (Item #: 96606 and 96612). There’s a very good chance you’ll be outdoors at least until you find some shelter and the 40 gram fleece Thinsulate lining on these gloves provides 10 times the warmth of standard fleece. These gloves are perfect for reloading your shotgun quickly in windy, cold or wet conditions. Also grab a pack of 100 Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves (Item #: 68498) for any less pragmatic survivors you may come across. The Nitrile hand gloves offer three times more puncture resistance than latex and vinyl, providing extra protection against sharp metal objects in dilapidated city ruins as well as zombie bites. The last thing you need is an infected person in your group. That won’t end well, trust me.

The bottom line is you can never be too careful when it comes to prepping for the zombie apocalypse. Here are some miscellaneous items that could be life-saving without taking up much space in your pack:

With this handy list of essentials, you’ll have a fighting chance at escaping the zombie horde while protecting your group of survivors… if you’re lucky enough to find any. Whatever you do, don’t get caught unprepared. Get to your nearest Harbor Freight store now to stock up and save a bundle!

“Very impressed with this tool. I love that it is made of aluminum unlike some others of its kind that are made of plastic. This jig makes joinery very easy and simple. I used it to join boards to make a table top out of 2×6’s. It feels very solid and well built. Good job HF.” – by Martz from Phoenix, AZ

“The Pocket Hole Jig is extremely easy to use. This kit drills pocket holes in materials from 1/2″ thick to 1-1/2″ thick with its two position hole guides. As a bonus you also get an easy to use portable guide plate. This works just as well as my other unit for a much better price. This one of HF’s gems.” – by GW from Jacksonville, FL

“I have a few projects lined up that would benefit from making pocket holes rather than drilling straight through. This jig was definitely worth the money, especially after using a super coupon. I love the portable base that allows you to remove the guides from the mountable base so you can make pocket holes in items that may not fit otherwise. You won’t regret buying this jig!” – by Mil from Philadelphia, PA
